My name is Hilda, and I’m a scribbler.
I enjoy stories, whether I’m reading them, writing them, listening to them, or helping other people learn to tell theirs.
After 34 years as a high school English teacher, I graduated in 2021. I like to play music, grow herbs and flowers, work with wool, and help my husband Mark with our sheep on Hil-Mar Farm near Valparaiso, Indiana. Mark is a retired educator and fellow musician. He and I are members of a contra dance band called the Hoosier Recruits.
Our three children are grown and flown, the son to Denmark and the daughters closer to home. When Mark and I are not on the farm, we can often be found at our daughters’ store, Alley Kat’s Curiosity Shoppe, where we are known as Mama and Papa Alley Kat.
